We were back in County Durham again and this time displayed one of the best battling performances you will see from a side this season. Falcons showed they could keep it on the ground or go back to front if needed and it was a similar performance to last week - plenty of possession and chances - with nothing to show for it. When an Aycliffe striker latched onto a through ball and slotted past the keeper you thought 'oh no, not again'. The lead didn't last long. A push on Benno led to a free kick just outside the box and Hugh rifled home. However, the hosts were always going to be dangerous from a set play and re took the lead shortly before half time when a back post corner got nodded home. After the turn Falcons kept pressing but were reduced to ten men after 10 minutes. A shocking tackle on Hayden led to a melee and a red card. The ten men then turned in an awesome display despite intense provocation with wild tackles and howls from the touchline. Will fired one in to make it 2-2 and then the Claret and Blue army steamrollered the hosts with Benno beating the keeper at the near post with 4 minutes to go. A cracking result.
