September 2016

Redcar Athletic
After the disappointment of the previous week where all our efforts came to nothing it was refreshing to see our commitment and hard work was rewarded with a well-earned extra time 3-2 win in the league cup.

Clarets V Bedale 18 September 2016

First match of the season in the Hambleton and Richmondshire league for the U8 Clarets and a trip to Bedale provided much excitement, fun and plenty of goals.

High intensity play was the name of the game and all the players were showing off some great skills under the blazing North Yorkshire sun.

All the boys played very well and the coaches were very impressed with their attitude and commitment.  A huge step forward for the Clarets this week and after finishing the morning with a penalty shootout, everyone left the field laughing and excited for the next match.

Clarets Vs Blues League Cup

Thirsk Falcons Clarets 4 Vs Thirsk Falcons Blues 0 U15

Sponsored by DGap,  Domestic Gas and Plumbing Ltd

On a beautiful sunny day at TAC and a slight breeze to help the players, we were all looking forward to another classic between the Blues and Clarets. Last year both teams missed out on promotion by a game and so the League Cup match today would pitch both teams together for the first time of three. Anyone who has seen this fixture before would know the rivalry and intensity of the game. It's always great to watch.

Leven v u14s

First half sees Leven athletic on attack and falcons defend well
Corner ball to Leven. Leven really applying pressure and Falcons defenders work hard. Unfortunately 1-0 to Leven. Falcons start to settle 15 minutes in and have there first attack on goal.
Leven pick up pace and are on attack.

Falcons have a chance but ball played wide. With the ref missing a corner to Falcons and awarding GK. Falcons building up confidence with a few more attacks. Falcon attack and with pace goal scored by Jake ⚽️ as Leven's defence collapse. 1-1.

Redcar Newmarket

Although we lost 4-1 we didn't get the rub of the green. With Hayden deputising in goal with a black and blue toe we played great in patches but made a few bad decisions that led to goals. Plenty to build on as we know why things went wrong and we are much better than the result suggests. Played in great spirit by the Newmarket lads.

Pre season gets off to a flying start

Falcons U16s started the campaign with a pre season 3-2 victory at Newsham Road against a very tidy looking Great Ayton team. Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the first half but 'Canny Atty' came back at them with two quickfire goals. A long range shot was scrambled into the net to maintain the lead and that's how it ran out. Great Ayton are a sound bunch of lads who did their club proud and we look forward to a return fixture later in the season when a break in fixtures allows.
